Toys R Us, the American clothing and toys retailer, is all set to, reportedly, launch over 400 shops-in-shops inside fashion retailer Macy’s stores.
US fashion retailer Macy’s also started a co-branded page with Toys R Us on its website to sell toys online. Notably, the page is currently live.
In a statement released to media, the retailers said that the physical stores will be rolled out in 2022 and will comprise vestiges of the Toys R Us brand.
In a conference call held yesterday (19 August), Jeff Genettte, CEO, Macy’s said that the partnership with Toys R Us grew out of the toy business the retailer launched through its off-price backstage segment, where toys were a standout category.
The CEO also said that the alliance with Toys R Us will help the apparel retailer’s toy business grow by fourfold.
This is not the first time both have come together. Almost a decade back, they had opened pop-ups together.
Founded in 1858, Macy’s is known for clothes, footwear, fashion accessories and bedding, amongst others, and has 130,000 employees. It earned annual revenue of US $ 24.8 billion as of 2017.
